New Delhi: In a major development, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MEITY), announced that the citizens of India will be able to get access to their Digi-locker using WhatsApp. They will also get access to the MyGov Helpdesk using the mobile app. Now users will be able to download documents like PAN Card, Driver’s License, Class X mark sheet, Class XII mark sheet and Vehicle RC using WhatsApp.
What is Digilocker on Whatsapp?
Originally started as MyGov Corona Helpdesk in March 2020, it served as a critical means to get authentic and timely information related to the pandemic. The bookings for vaccines and distribution of vaccine certificates were also done through this helpdesk.
With the latest feature, the MyGov chatbot will help citizens get access to resources and essential services. According to reports, Digi-locker has over 5 billion documents and over 100 million people have registered on the platform. Bringing this to WhatsApp can prove to be a game-changer in India’s journey towards digitization.

Users can get government documents on WhatsApp. To get the details, they will just need to send ‘Namaste’ or ‘Hi’ or ‘Digilocker’ to the WhatsApp number +91 9013151515. Here’s the process.
- Firstly, save the +91 9013151515 in your contacts. (Click here to Message)
- Then, Open WhatsApp
- Send Namaste or Hi to WhatsApp number +91 9013151515
- The Digi-locker Helpdesk will ask if you have an account.
- If yes, it will ask you to enter the 12 digit Aadhar card number and OTP (linked to Aadhar) to verify the identity.
- Once it verifies the OTP, the Helpdesk will then ask which official documents would you like to be issued.
- Press the number associated with the service you wish to avail
“With new additions like Digilocker, the MyGov chatbot on WhatsApp aims to build a comprehensive administrative support system for citizens to access resources and essential services that are digitally inclusive,” said the press note.
